ENERGY STAR U-Factor Requirements

ENERGY STAR U-Factor Requirements

Harvey Building Product experts work hard to manufacture and distribute a high quality home improvement product that is reliable, attractive and efficient. That is why we work closely with the ENERGY STAR program to ensure that every qualified window is independently certified to meet or exceed strict energy efficiency levels and guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Since 2013, the Harvey Tribute double hung window has been recognized as a “ENERGY STAR Most Efficient” product for its exceptional efficiency and continues to represent the leading edge in energy-efficient products.

What is ENERGY STAR

The goal of ENERGY STAR is to help homeowners improve the efficiency and comfort of their home while protecting the environment and their wallet! Currently in a single year ENERGY STAR, has helped Americans avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 27 million cars — all while saving $16 billion on their utility bills.

What are the U-Factor Requirements

The performance ratings for an ENERGY STAR qualified window can be found on the NFRA label located on every window.  This factor measures how well a product prevents heat from escaping a home or building. The general rating is between 0.20 and 1.20, the closer to 0.20 the better the product is at keeping heat inside. Check ENERGY STAR’s website to find the ENERGY STAR U-Factor for your region.
