Ames Home Improvements was hired by a homeowner in New Hampshire who wanted the convenience of low maintenance and energy efficiency while keeping the integrity of the original architecture of their home.
Their crew began by replacing the old wooden windows. They used ENERGY STAR rated Harvey Classic double hung vinyl replacement windows and a garden window, as well as a Harvey vinyl patio door. Once the window and door project was complete, AHI continued with the exterior of the building. They installed housewrap underneath Mastic Carvedwood Pebblestone Clay vinyl siding, accented with white trim and accessories. Harvey gutter was installed, in addition to vinyl window mantels above the window casings, and CertainTeed vinyl supercorners were used to reproduce the original design.
Once the project was finished, the home was entered into the Vinyl Siding Institute’s Award of Distinction competition which is a national organization that recognizes outstanding uses of vinyl siding. More than 170 entries were received from contractors, builders, remodelers, architects, homeowners and manufacturer members of VSI across the United States and Canada. Ames Home Improvements is proud to say that their entry was selected as a winner in the “Residential Re-Siding” category. This home has since been sold, and the owners said that the award and recognition was a good selling point for their realtor’s listing.
