Vinyl or Majesty Wood Window with a Mechanical Sash

Step 1: Unlock the window and lift the bottom sash 6" - 8". |

Step 2: Use the Tilt-Latch to tilt the bottom sash into your home. |

Step 3: If there is a pivot retainer (plastic clip) in your model, it must be removed with the end of a pen or like device. |
 |
Step 4: Disengage the bottom sash from the frame by lifting one side and then the other.
If you need to replace the pivot bar in your top sash, you must first pull your top sash down 6" - 8". Then, follow the same procedure in steps 2 through 4. |

Step 5: Remove the cap from the bottom of the sash. |
 |
Step 6: Unscrew the pivot bar. |
 |
Step 7: Remove the pivot bar from the sash and replace it with the new pivot bar by following the reverse procedure above. |

Step 1: Open window 6" - 8" and tilt sash in until it is at a 90 degree angle or flat and level like a table top. |

Step 2: Remove the sash at this point by pulling up, you need to disengage the pivot bars from the u-shaped terminal housings or cam that it is sitting into in the frame.

Step 3: Using a wood chisel with the flat side down, use a hammer to tap head of chisel in order to cut off head of rivot. |

Step 4: Do the same for both rivot heads exposed above the pivot bar, these two rivots are actually holding the pivot bar in place. |
 |
Step 5: Once the head of the rivots are chiseled off, the pivot should be able to pull free. |
 |
Step 6: Remove pivot bar from sash and replace with new one, holes will line up. |
 |
Step 7: Use screwdriver or drill gun to now screw new pivot bar in place. This is the easier replacement technique. New pivot bars can also be pop rivoted back in place. |
